This research aims to determine the improvement in the ability to write news texts through the Brainstroming learning model. The type of research that will be used in carrying out this research is classroom action research (PTK). In the first cycle, the results of the researcher's observations were 53.33%, 46.66% were not carried out, and 72.22% of the second meetings were held, and 27.77% were not held. Meanwhile, in cycle II, the results of the researcher's observations were 86.66% of the first meeting which was held, 13.33% of which was not held and 94.45% of the second meeting which was held, 5.55% of which were not held. Based on the results of the test for the ability to write news texts through the brainstorming learning model, it can be seen that cycle I obtained an average score of 56.1% in the fair category with the lowest score being 37.5 and the highest score being 81. Meanwhile, in cycle II there was an increase in the ability to write news texts, students obtained an average score of 83% in the good category with the lowest score being 62.5 and the highest score being 93. It can be concluded that the use of the Brainstorming model can improve students' ability in writing news texts in class VII UPTD SMP Negeri 1 North Gunungsitoli. Researchers suggest to subject teachers to apply the Brainstorming model in teaching.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan menulis teks berita melalui model pembelajaran Brainstroming. Jenis penelitian yang akan digunakan dalam pelaksanaan penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) atau Classroom Action Research. Pada siklus I pertemuan hasil observasi peneliti yang terlaksana 53,33%, yang tidak terlaksana 46,66% dan pertemuan kedua yang terlaksan 72,22%, yang tidak terlaksa 27,77%. Sedangkan pada siklus II hasil observasi peneliti pertemuan pertamayang terlaksana 86,66%, yang tidak terlaksana 13,33% dan pertemuan kedua yang terlaksana 94,45%, yang tidak terlaksana 5,55%. Berdasarkan hasil tes kemampuan menulis teks berita melalui model model pembelajaran brainstorming dapat dilihat siklus I memperoleh nilai rata-rata 56,1% berkategori cukup dengan nilai terendah 37,5 dan nilai tertinggi 81. Sedangkan pada siklus II adanya peningkatan kemampuan menulis teks berita peserta didik memperoleh nilai rata-rata 83% berkategori baik dengan nilai terendah 62,5 dan nilai tertinggi 93. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan model Brainstorming dapat meningkatkan kemampuan peserta didik dalam menulis teks berita di kelas VII UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara. Peneliti menyarankan kepada guru mata pelajaran untuk dapat menerapkan model Brainstorming dalam mengajar.
