Abstract:

This study and research aims to investigate the impact and contributing factors of speech delay in early childhood, and its relationship with children's social, emotional and social interaction development. Through the naturalistic observation method, the research was conducted on a 6-year-old child with the initials DR who experienced speech delay and lived in Gedong Meneng, Bandar Lampung City. The results of the research showed that children with speech delay tend to have limitations in verbal expression, use more sign language, and have difficulties in controlling and regulating emotions and conveying wishes or feelings. Factors contributing to this disorder include a lack of rich verbal interactions, hearing loss, stress in the family, and limitations in economic resources. This study provides a better understanding of the importance of addressing speech delay disorder in early childhood to prevent its negative impact on children's social, emotional development and social interaction.
