NEUROTEOLOGI PENDIDIKAN TERHADAP PENDEKATAN SAINS DAN SUFISTIK

Published: Jul 21, 2026

Abstract:

Perspektif Sains: Melalui teknologi pencitraan otak (fMRI, SPECT, PET), sains membuktikan adanya kapasitas biologis manusia (God spot) yang merespons aktivitas transenden.

This research aims to explain the concept of neurotheology in Islamic education, analyze it from a scientific and Sufi perspective, and elaborate on its relevance to the development of a holistic learning model. This research uses a library research approach with interdisciplinary analysis that combines experimental findings from modern neuroscience with Islamic theological and Sufi concepts. Integrative Concept: Neurotheology connects Quranic verses about reason (aql), the forelock (nasiyah), and contemplation with the cognitive and biological functions of the brain. Scientific Perspective: Through brain imaging technologies (fMRI, SPECT, PET), science has proven the existence of a human biological capacity (the God spot) that responds to transcendental activity. Spiritual practices activate the prefrontal cortex (focus), decrease parietal lobe activity (sensation of closeness to God), and engage the limbic system (religious emotions). Sufi Perspective: Neurotheology empirically validates the process of tazkiyatun nafs (purification of the soul) through neuroplasticity. The practice of dhikr and muraqabah has been shown to decrease Default Mode Network (DMN) activity, which reduces negative rumination, shrinks the amygdala (stress), and guides the soul toward tranquility (nafs al-mutma'innah). Neurotheology has strong relevance in Islamic education through two main implementations: the application of Tranquility-Based Learning (dhikr/breathing exercises before studying to reduce cortisol and improve memory), and the development of brain-based Spiritual Intelligence (SQ) to shape noble character biologically and theologically through consistent spiritual practices.
