PENGARUH COVID-19 TERHADAP KOMUNIKASI VERBAL DI KALANGAN MASYARAKAT
Abstrak:
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought significant changes to patterns of verbal communication in society, particularly due to restrictions on face-to-face interactions and the shift toward digital media. This study aims to analyze the impact of the pandemic on the frequency, quality, and pragmatic strategies of verbal communication, as well as to identify post-pandemic communication trends, using a systematic literature review (SLR) method following the PRISMA protocol on scientific publications from 2020 to 2025. The data were analyzed through a thematic synthesis approach involving coding, theme categorization, and cross-study interpretation. The findings reveal a dominant shift toward online communication, leading to decreased social presence, increased use of text-based interaction, and the emergence of adaptive strategies such as code-switching and language style adjustments. In addition, the use of face masks has affected communication by reducing nonverbal cues, thereby strengthening the role of intonation and word choice. These findings suggest that the changes reflect human adaptability in crisis situations, although the effectiveness of communication is strongly influenced by social context and levels of digital literacy. Overall, the pandemic has not only changed but also accelerated the transformation of verbal communication toward more digital and adaptive patterns.
