ENGLISH FUN ACTIVITIES: UPAYA PENINGKATAN SKILL BERBAHASA GENERASI MUDA DESA ALAI SELATAN MELALUI KEGIATAN EDUKATIF DAN KOMUNIKATIF

Abstract:

The English Fun Activities program is a community service initiative conducted by KKN Rekognisi Tematik students of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang in Desa Alai Selatan, Kecamatan Lembak, Kabupaten Muara Enim. This program aims to improve the English language skills of the younger generation through communicative, interactive, and enjoyable learning approaches. The activities included Speaking and listening sessions, reading corner and vocabulary hunt, writing simple sentences, and English Competition Day. Using a game-based learning, project-based learning, and communicative approach, participants showed significant improvement in vocabulary, pronunciation, and confidence in using English in daily interactions. The results of program evaluation indicated that at least 70% of participants experienced improved motivation and communicative competence. This program demonstrates that a fun, participatory, and contextual learning environment can effectively foster English language skills among rural youth.

Program English Fun Activities merupakan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilaksanakan oleh mahasiswa KKN Rekognisi Tematik UIN Raden Fatah Palembang di Desa Alai Selatan, Kecamatan Lembak, Kabupaten Muara Enim. Program ini bertujuan meningkatkan keterampilan berbahasa Inggris generasi muda melalui pendekatan pembelajaran yang komunikatif, interaktif, dan menyenangkan. Kegiatan yang dilaksanakan meliputi sesi Speaking dan listening, reading corner dan vocabulary hunt, penulisan kalimat sederhana, serta English Competition Day. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan game-based learning, project-based learning, dan communicative approach, peserta menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam penguasaan kosakata, pelafalan, dan kepercayaan diri dalam menggunakan bahasa Inggris. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa minimal 70% peserta mengalami peningkatan motivasi dan kompetensi komunikatif. Program ini membuktikan bahwa lingkungan belajar yang menyenangkan, partisipatif, dan kontekstual dapat secara efektif menumbuhkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris generasi muda di pedesaan.
