Focus and Scope
Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Ilmu Pendidikan is a scientific publication focusing on integrating educational science with community service practices. It was published by the Department of Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Lampung. Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Ilmu Pendidikan aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas and innovations, as well as the implementation of community service programs based on educational science, with an emphasis on improving the quality of life of the community through educational, participatory, and sustainable approaches.

Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Ilmu Pendidikan focuses on studies and practices of community service directly related to the field of education, including:
- Community Empowerment through Education: Community service programs aimed at improving literacy, life skills, inclusive education, or strengthening community capacity in both formal and non-formal educational contexts.
- Educational Innovation in the Community: Implementing creative learning models, utilizing educational technology (edtech), or using pedagogical approaches based on local wisdom to address social and educational issues in the community.
- Evaluation and Impact of Community Service: Critical analysis of program effectiveness, measurement of socio-economic impact, and reflection on challenges and sustainability of community service programs.
Scope of the Journal:
Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Ilmu Pendidikan accepts articles covering the following topics:
- Community-based curriculum development.
- Teacher/lecturer training in the context of community service.
- Character, environmental, or entrepreneurship education integrated with community service activities.
- Utilisation of media and technology in community service programs.
- Case studies of community service involving multidisciplinary approaches (educational psychology, educational sociology, educational management).
- Community development based on educational research.
- Community accompaniment and empowerment in education.
- Dissemination of educational science products.
Peer Review Policy
Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Ilmu Pendidikan implements a rigorous and transparent peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and relevance of its content. This process is designed to uphold academic integrity, encourage credible knowledge exchange, and ensure that each article makes a significant contribution to the development of education, science, and community service practices. The following are the main stages and principles of the Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Ilmu Pendidikan peer review process:
A. Initial Stage (Initial Review)
After the editor receives a manuscript, an initial screening is conducted to ensure that:
- Compliance with the focus and scope of Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Ilmu Pendidikan.
- Compliance of the article structure with the writing guidelines (e.g., IMRAD system: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion).
- Compliance with publication ethics standards (originality, freedom from plagiarism, and conflict of interest).
- Completeness of supporting data. Manuscripts not meeting these criteria will be returned to the author for revision or rejection before entering the peer review stage.
B. Peer Review Process
Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Ilmu Pendidikan employs a Single-Blind Review system, in which the identities of both authors and peer reviewers are kept confidential to minimize bias. This process involves the following steps:
- Assignment of Reviewers: The editor will select 2-3 peer reviewers who are competent in education, community service, or the specific theme of the article. Reviewers are selected based on their expertise, experience, and publication record.
- Evaluation by Reviewers: Reviewers evaluate articles based on the following criteria: (a) Relevance: The article's contribution to the development of educational science and community service practices; (b) Originality: Novelty of ideas, program innovation, or methodological approaches; (c) Methodology: Adequacy of community service implementation methods, research design, and data analysis; (d) Impact: Potential practical application, program sustainability, or policy implications; (e) Writing Quality: Clarity of argument, consistency of logic, and use of scientific language.
- Reviewer Recommendations: Each reviewer provides recommendations in the form of Accepted, Accepted with Minor Revisions, Accepted with Major Revisions, or Rejected, accompanied by constructive comments for improving the article.
C. Final Decision by the Editor
After revisions are complete, the editor will decide on the suitability for publication based on the following:
- The revisions' compliance with the reviewer's recommendations.
- The consistency of the arguments and the improvement in the quality of the article.
- The availability of publication slots in the appropriate edition.
- Revised articles may be returned to the reviewer for re-evaluation (second-round review) if necessary.
Open Acces Policy
Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Ilmu Pendidikan adheres to the principle of full open access, where all content is freely accessible to the public, thereby strengthening global knowledge exchange. Readers are entitled to read, download, copy, share, and link to articles without special permission, as per the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). This policy accelerates research dissemination, increases citation impact, and fosters cross-border academic collaboration through an OJS-based system.
Plagiarism Policy
Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Ilmu Pendidikan has a strict policy against plagiarism, requiring all manuscripts to be original and free from any form of plagiarism, forgery, or omission of important material. Authors must include proper citations for all sources, both published and unpublished, including paraphrasing of others’ ideas.
Each manuscript will be checked using Turnitin and Grammarly, with a maximum similarity tolerance of 20% (excluding references). Violations will be subject to sanctions ranging from manuscript rejection to a 3-year submission ban for severe cases, as outlined in COPE guidelines. Authors are solely responsible for the originality of their work and must ensure all citations are correctly listed.
Publication Ethics
Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Ilmu Pendidikan is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to upholding the highest standards of scientific publication ethics. This journal follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in handling all aspects of publication ethics, including resolving violations in research and publication. This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process of articles in this journal, namely, authors, editors, peer reviewers, and publishers.
Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Ilmu Pendidikan is dedicated to implementing best practices related to ethical issues, corrections, and retractions. Preventing publication malpractice is the primary responsibility of the editorial board, so any form of unethical behaviour is unacceptable. This journal does not tolerate plagiarism in any form.
As part of its efforts to maintain academic integrity, Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Ilmu Pendidikan adheres to the COPE principles to uphold the highest ethical standards for publishers, editors, authors, and reviewers. Publication ethics are crucial and must be clearly understood to improve the quality of research and community service in the field of education.
A. Ethical Standards for Editors
- Editors are responsible for every article published in the journal.
- Editors assist authors in following writing guidelines that refer to scientific standards.
- Editors have the right to communicate with other editors or reviewers in making final decisions.
- Editors evaluate manuscripts objectively, without regard to the author's background (ethnicity, religion, gender, institutional affiliation, or political views). Editors must recuse themselves if there is a conflict of interest.
- Editors ensure the confidentiality of manuscripts by not disclosing the authors' identities to reviewers, and vice versa.
- Editors and staff must maintain the confidentiality of the entire review process and not misuse information in manuscripts for personal gain.
B. Ethical Standards for Reviewers
- Reviewers provide feedback on research ethics and possible publication violations.
- Reviewers complete their tasks on time and notify the editor if they are unable to complete the review.
- Reviewers maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and do not use the information contained therein for personal gain.
- Reviewers avoid conflicts of interest by declining to review manuscripts involving professional/personal relationships with the authors.
C. Ethical Standards for Authors
- Authors must ensure that their manuscripts have not been previously published and do not submit the same manuscript to other journals.
- Authors must guarantee the originality of their work and cite sources correctly by the applicable reference format.
- Authors are prohibited from plagiarism, including autoplagiarism (using their work without clear citation).
- Authors comply with the journal's writing criteria and only list those who have made significant contributions.
- Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
- Authors are responsible for the data and methods used in community service research. If there are errors, authors must notify the editor of the correction or retraction.
- Authors must avoid mentioning the identities of respondents (if participants are involved) without valid consent.
- Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest (if any), such as funding, institutional affiliation, or copyright ownership.
Author Guidelines
A. Manuscript Structure
All manuscripts submitted must follow the standard structure (Template) to ensure completeness and consistency of presentation. Article titles must be clear, informative, and no longer than 15 words, reflecting the focus of community service. The abstract (150–250 words) should be written in English or bilingual (if applicable) and include the programme objectives, implementation methods, main findings, and implications for the community. Authors must consist of 3-5 relevant keywords. The introduction should explain the social or educational problem being addressed, the objectives of the community service, and its contribution to solving the problem. The implementation methods should be described in detail, including the approach (training, mentoring, advocacy), target participants, and data collection techniques (if applicable). Results are presented systematically with visual support (tables/figures) to clarify the programme's impact. The discussion must link findings to community needs, challenges during implementation, and comparisons with similar programmes. The conclusion includes recommendations for follow-up or development of similar programmes. The reference list includes only cited sources, formatted in the latest APA style.
B. Submission Process and Publication Eticts
Authors are required to upload their manuscripts in .doc/.docx format through the official journal website after registering an account. Manuscripts must be accompanied by a Statement of Originality stating that the work has not been published in any media. Each author is fully responsible for the accuracy of the data and references used. The journal enforces a strict anti-plagiarism policy, with a maximum similarity tolerance of 20%. Any violations will result in the rejection of the manuscript. Transparency regarding conflicts of interest (such as funding or specific affiliations) must be clearly stated to maintain academic credibility.
C. Manuscript Processing and Monitoring Period
The manuscript review period ranges from 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the complexity of the material and the availability of peer reviewers. Authors can monitor the status of their manuscripts in real time through the journal's online system, which sends email notifications at each stage (submit → review → decision). If revisions are required, authors will receive comments from reviewers and have 2 weeks to make the necessary improvements. Extensions to the review period are only granted for specific academic considerations, and the editorial team will communicate this transparently. The final decision (accepted, revised, or rejected) will be sent along with constructive feedback.
